Mentored Midwifery Research

Funded by:
Association of Ontario Midwives
Duration:
2022-2023

This study is an evaluation of the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care of the midwifery services at an urban community health centre. The research involves a retrospective chart review and a qualitative analysis of client experiences.  Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre (WHIWH) introduced midwifery care to its compliment of services in 2017, a collaboration with The Midwives’ Clinic of East York Don Mills (TMC). In keeping with WHIWH’s mission, the midwifery program is intended to provide accessible health care to racialized and predominantly uninsured women and trans folks in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. The project is a partnership with midwives and researchers who work collaboratively to develop an evaluation framework to monitor ongoing program success.
