

Beverley Essue is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Economics for Global Health Systems Equity at the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, a Faculty Research Fellow at Rotman School of Management’s Institute for Gender and the Economy and honorary Senior Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health, India.
Her transdisciplinary research focuses on financial risk protection, equitable priority setting, and advancing gender and health equity across diverse global contexts.
She has had leadership roles in driving major global health initiatives with the WHO, World Bank, and the Disease Control Priorities. Most recently, she co-chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Lancet Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Maltreatment of Young People, co-leads its economics pillar, and serves as a Commissioner on the Lancet Commissions on Cancer and Health Systems.
In 2020, she was recognized among the Canadian Women in Global Health for her leadership and scholarship.
