Rayaan Hagi-Nur

Research Assistant

Rayaan Hagi-Nur is a third-year student at the University of Toronto, in the process of earning her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Health Policy with a minor in Biomedical Ethics. Rayaan has volunteered at the Vellore Village Library, where she participated in a program that focused on assisting young children who struggled with reading, because she believes in the importance of fostering a love of reading in order to build confidence and strengthen community. Rayaan wants to earn a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in order to focus on helping dismantle the cultural barriers that create stigma around mental health for all generations, and not just the newer ones. She has a special interest in the Somali Community, having been raised there, and hopes to one day contribute to improving the community's mental health outlook. Rayaan is interested in reading; she enjoys discovering new authors and following their journeys. She is also very passionate about art and hopes to one day travel the world and understand different cultures through their art.
